The developments in Washington are unsettling investors, not so much because they believe a partial shutdown would itself hurt equity values, but for what the gridlock and unpredictability of the Trump White House could presage for more consequential fights, like the need to raise the debt ceiling early next year.
Looks like we're on track for this.
