A recent survey found that 40% of Americans have less than $500 saved. For the most prosperous nation in the world it is hard to believe that one minor injury or car repair can put people into the red. Many people are living paycheck to paycheck. Of course this addiction to spending what many don't have is a generational trend and the bill is coming due:
