An interesting presentation was given by economist highlighting the proportion of employed Americans in low wage jobs. Low wage is defined by positions that pay less than $10 per hour. The data finds that among high paying industrialized nations, the US ranks amongst the highest in terms of having a proportion of their workforce in low wage work. The US has 1 out of every 4 employed workers defined as being employed in a low wage job:
