Housing remains on life-support. It hasn't recovered, and seems unlikely to do so. Recently Robert Shiller, the economist most famous for predicting that the housing market would crash, was interviewed by Jennifer Schonberger of Motley Fool, and was asked for his ideas for helping the housing market. They talked about lower conforming loan limits, [I liked that one.] better derivatives markets [Good luck with that one.] and splitting up the GSEs into more bite-size agencies.
