Bank of England 'kept savers in the dark over risk of investing in Iceland'

The Bank of England knew Iceland's banking system was unsafe but did not pass on the warning to savers, a devastating report claimed last night.

It allowed UK savers to pour tens of millions of pounds into Icelandic banks despite having grave concerns about their financial health, according to a 2,300-page study commissioned by the Icelandic government.
