2009-10-20 — forbes.com The federal government has finally decided to distance itself from a Long Island mortgage lender whose antics were first chronicled in Forbes a year ago. In a civil complaint filed Tuesday by officials from the Department of Justice, Department of Housing and Urban Development and Federal Housing Administration, the feds asked a judge to bar Lend America of Melville, N.Y., from making loans insured by the government.
