``An investor letter, dated July 21, offers a glimpse into managing a fund that is in the throes of being liquidated. Polygon said that between May and the end of June 2008, its Global Opportunities long portfolio--essentially bullish bets on securities--had declined by $273 million, to $2.03 billion. In June alone, the fund dumped about $185 million in assets. ''
