Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. snapped a three-day decline in New York trading after Merrill Lynch & Co. told clients to buy the shares, saying the stock price already reflects an expected second-quarter loss.

But does the stock price reflect the subtraction from the bottom line of the company buying back its own stock? Probably not.

Not to mention the possibility of insolvency.
