"I think it is fair to call the latest import price reports hyper-inflationary. It was just a few short years ago when imports were frequently pointed to as “keeping inflation containedâ€. In the interim and most unfortunately, the US has severely debased it’s currency which combined with the running up of massive debt financed trade deficits has flooded the world with Dollars. The economics is basic: plenty of Dollars around relative to the goods available equals higher prices"
