Quote:
Nonfarm payrolls fell by just 11,000 last month, far short of analysts' expectations of a 125,000 decrease. October's job losses also were revised down to 111,000 from an initially reported 190,000. The employment rate dipped to 10% from 10.2%

FED RESPONSE: Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia President Charles Plosser said Friday he welcomes the improvement in hiring seen in November, but added he wants to see more improvement before concluding the economy has turned the corner. Though the data are "encouraging," he emphasized "one month does not a trend make."

Even the mainstream media [MSNMC] is picking up on the statistics put out by the Bureau of Lying Statistics (BLS)

Underemployed

9.2 million: Number of part-time workers who would have preferred full-time work last month

2.3 million: People without jobs who want to work but have stopped looking

17.2 percent: "Underemployment" rate in November if you include the above two categories

17.5 percent: Underemployment rate in October, the highest in records dating to 1994

Yep. The US gov't is down to the only things that work...

Lie
Cheat
Steal
Kill

It's how dying empires control their populace...

Dec. Non-Farm Payroll down 85,000. Analysts were expecting flat to maybe up 10,000 or so. Unemployment rate at 10%.

Nov was revised from down 11,000 to up 4,000. But, Oct was revised from down 111,000 to down 127,000. So, net change over the two month period was down 1,000.

Bill Gross is calling for "major government programs" to generate job growth Rolling Eyes . Yeah, that's what we need, more nanny state government involvement.

Quote:
The rate would have been higher if more people had been looking for work instead of leaving the labor force because they can't find jobs.

The sharp drop in the work force -- 661,000 fewer people -- showed that more of the jobless are giving up on their search for work. Once people stop looking for jobs, they are no longer counted among the unemployed.

It is totally amazing to me that the gov't can actually use the quoted definition to calculate jobs. Anyone who has at least the brain power of a dead maggot can see that if every person in america did not work but were so depressed they quit looking for work and fell out of the labor pool that the unemployment rate would be zero. At that point there would be nobody working but the unemployment rate would equal zero. Absurd. Therefore if the algorithm is absurd then the statistics based on it are false and absolutely meaningless.

looks like we're headed back into the negative numbers ...

June Non-Farm Payroll up a pathetic 18,000 (economists were expecting 125,000, and even that wasn't considered very good).

And lets remember that it takes a monthly job creation of 125,000 to 150,000 JUST to keep up with new people entering the work force.

And May was revised down from the originally reported 54,000 to 25,000.

Unemployment back up to 9.2% (of course we all know how the governent manipulates these numbers to make it look better than reality anyway).

Can't wait to hear the spin on this one.

July non-farm payroll tomorrow

After today's market action, I wonder if they are busy tonight making some last minute "modifications" to the birth/death adjustment ...

personally, I don't think yesterday's stock market sell off had all that much to do with what is going on in the US ... 90% of the sell off can be blamed on the banking system in Europe freezing up IMHO (like it did in the US in '08 ). Everyone remembers Sept '08 and what it feels like when banks won't lend to each other, and this is deja vue all over again.

Quote:
U.S. payrolls increased 117,000, the Labor Department said on Friday, above market expectations for an 85,000 gain. The unemployment rate dipped to 9.1 percent from 9.2 percent in June, but this was mostly the result of people leaving the labor force.

If enough people leave the labor force maybe the rate will go towards 0...?

HA HA HA WTF?
