Call reports vs HMDA Data for Mortgage Lending Activity
PostPosted: Thu Oct 08, 2009 7:11 pm Reply with quoteBack to top

Need some help, gang.

If the call reports show $x in single family "wholesale originations and purchases" and HMDA doesn't match up - where's the difference? Is that possibly whole loan purchases?

AND... is there really any way to tell what a bank's CRE lending activity has been? Comparing portfolio changes month-to-month obviously isn't enough due to xfers to/from "held for sale" and new purchases. So what's the magic formula?

And by WHO/WHERE is this data reliably collected that doesn't cost several thousand dollars for a subscription?

Hoping someone knows.
