Mind if I lurk on this subject? What have you got?

Mind if I lurk on this subject? What have you got in Mod service evidence that will show the FTC your real value to loan holders like me?
My weeks and weeks of pondering and procrastinating on my sub-prime mortgage at an already hard to sustain interest rate and monthly cost led me here. And my suspicions, (typically I am a suspicious person and the FTC ought to be also), of this growing mod services industry has had me looking but not buying.
In search of some insight I called my cousin in Miami, Florida where the wave of foreclosures hit early. He owns 3 homes there. Ricardo told me; “These days the attorneys in Florida who were called ‘immigration lawyers” have all become ‘loan lawyers.” That's not an endorsement!
So I looked for real evidence that a lawyer or anyone else could really make a difference for me, my friends and clients (I am a California realtor) and others in need of mortgage help to keep their homes.
So I hope to find that my application for mortgage modification, currently with my lender, can be "worked out" in a good way.
Is this field of mortgage modification in these time too new to have verifiable results available? Mandelman Matters may be leading the way?
